How to Estimate Your Dog’s Age

2. The second year of a dog’s life = 10 years
3. Every year thereafter is equal to 3 “human years.” For example, a formula for ten-year-old dog would be 15 + 10 + (3×8) = 49. For a fifteen-year-old dog it would be 15 + 10 + (3×3) = 64.

Sorry, but I don’t like this. I am used to the 1 dog year = 7 years for people. My dog just passed away after having a stroke. She was 13 and 1/2, and I like to think that she had a long life by living to 94 or so years of age in human terms. Is it wrong to think that?
Hi there! Sorry for the delay!
I’m really sorry for your loss.
Well, I found this results in a great book! In the book they are talking about your method, but they say that this one that I posted is more accurate. But it’s your choice to decide which one will make you feel better.
Thanks for visiting my website!
Have a wonderful day!
The problem with any system like this is that they don´t take account of the type of dog.
For example, I have Rottweilers which sadly don´t live so long. A thirteen year old Rottie is a venerable old man (or girl!) but a thirteen year old terrier may be middle aged in comparision, don´t you think? Nice to meet you Patty!
