Is Your Dog Easily Distracted?

greyhoundSome dogs, specially sighthounds, are easily distracted by everything in life. They will run after anything that moves. This kind of dog should always be leashed or confined to a securely fenced yard.

Teaching your dog commands like sit and stay are really important to maintaining control over your dog and also to avoid any potentially dangerous situation.

Here are a few distractions your dog might find too hard to resist:

Breeds Easily distracted by:
Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, Australian Cattle Dogs, Shetland Sheepdogs, Corgis , Bearded Collies, and most other herding breeds Movement of any kind, including children playing, other animals running, joggers, bikers, etc. livestock, including sheep, ducks, cattle.
Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, Flat-Coated Retrievers, English Springer Spaniels, and most other sporting breeds. Birds, water of any kind, including ponds, lakes and pools, other animals.
Parson and Jack Russell Terriers, Norfolk Terriers, Norwich Terriers, Schnauzers, West Highland White Terriers, and most other terriers. Scurrying-type movements, other animals, high squeaks or squealing noises.
Greyhounds, Salukis, Whippets, and most other sighthounds Moving animals, moving objects.
